NAHB: Higher interest rates keep single-family housing starts flat

WASHINGTON — Single-family starts remained flat in April as interest rates moved above 7% last month and builders were dealing with tighter lending conditions.Overall housing starts increased 5.7% in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.36 million units, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau.

Interfor posts $72.9M Q1 loss

BURNABY, British Columbia – Interfor recorded a first-quarter net loss of $72.9 million on sales of $813.2 million. The Q1 financial deficit comes on the heels of a net loss of $169.0 million the company recorded in Q4 2023.
